Aardvark

Aardvark: Africaans, “earthpork” or “groundpig,” anteater.

In 1991, John Benson designed Aardvark “as an eye-catching letter to evoke the look of African tribal designwork, Franklin Gothic Condensed, perhaps, seen through the eyes of a Nigerian weaver.”

It was drawn for an advertising campaign, headlines, and short blocks of text for billboards and newspaper ads.

Jill Pichotta produced a boldface for Font Bureau release.

Among other uses, Aardvark is recommended for Magazine, Book and Corporate use.
