It’s Sans Serif Shaded:
Looks right but it is too sloppy. The outline in my image are all the same weight. The Sans Serif Shaded looks ike it has been generated from a Illustrator trace.
Yes, you are right...
Sans Serif Shaded (Stephenson Blake) existed before computer fonts became a reality.
Letraset offered it (transfer lettering -- “gnuggisar”), it’s listed as “Sans Shaded” on page 4 in this PDF:
All those were of good quality, like your sample.
But the only digitized version I knew of is the one by Dieter Steffmann, and... with a quality just like you described it :(
Ok...thanks for the info! I’ll have to redraw this logo for my customer then if it doesn’t exist like a font at all.
Just for the archives: Pizzadude made a grungy version called Ultinoid of it.
After being sued by Fontshop in 1997 Brendel Informatik was liquidated and made a new start as The Quick Brown Fox which is still selling the Brendel (Softmaker) fonts, including the Shadowone: http://www.qbf.de/dceng.htm . Click S, then Shadowone. At $ 39.95 a lot of money for a ripoff. Fontsmonster thought so too and made it free; the designer collection, page 10.
the ShadowOne was directly copied from Castcraft’s Optifonts (which costs MORE than $77) so it’s a BARGAIN -- HA-HA!
Dieter Steffmann’s version is practically unusable
the Designer Fonts are ripoffs of Opti, Robert Schenk (Ingramayne) and a couple of FontBank
Anyway, the whole Brendel/QBF designer collection is on fontsmonster. Just one spider and done ...
Thank you, koeiekat and Philippe, for Shadowone - and the info about other related things! I have missed all that.
