Alexander Rütten
Alexander Rütten is a typeface and graphic designer and partner of the Berlin based design studio Formsport. He studied communication design at the University of Applied Sciences in Trier with Prof. Andreas Hogan. In 2002 he moved to Berlin, where he mainly worked as an editorial-designer and as an interface designer. In the same year Alexander also co-founded the design studio Formsport with Olivia Wood. After publishing several type families, winning two TDC competitions and a German Design Award nomination, he decided to cooperate on the design of Tuna with Felix Braden. After having really enjoyed cooperation in type design, he decided to continue co-designing and has since developed various typefaces in collaboration with Olivia Wood. Relais Display is the first retail typeface designed by Ligature-Type, their joint type studio. Easy Grotesk is the second and was also published in 2023. Interested in almost everything, Alexander constantly tackles new tasks and technologies, expanding his design horizon. His passion for type is the recurring theme that connects it all.
