Nicolas Dupuis is a freelance type designer and calligrapher based in Paris. Since 2020, he has been working with studios and companies to create custom typefaces. Specialised in type design, he also works as a graphic designer in publishing. His work is mainly focused on developing typefaces from research projects on calligraphic lettering, and also extends to a strong calligraphic practice. His first typeface, Négatif was released on Blazetype in early 2023. Designed for his diploma project in MFA in type design at the Estienne school of Paris, the font highlights the enthusiasm of the digitized calligraphic letter. Passionate about printing letters on paper, he shows a particular interest in calligraphic experimentation through each of his projects.
