Based in Lisbon, Portugal, XPNType founders say that the main goal of this foundry is to try to include the various perspectives of type design in one unique spot. The more we think about the 21st century, in design, we argue with ourselves "what is design?" or "what makes me a designer?"; "how do I, as a designer, apply in design, the rules that come from the avant-garde. And who says that I can't break those rules?".As a foundry, we aspire to bring new horizons to the world of typography with high-quality products, that can not just deconstruct what is common in the industry, but also create fonts either display or script faces that can represent everyone. With a lot of diversity, we hope to bring new, different, and innovative fonts. Also, we have been doing just that since the foundry’s creation in 2021 although just posting now.For now, our main questions are "do we have to base our thoughts and think for what is usually the right kind?", and "does it makes sense to use the rules that are stipulated by the avant-garde designers or just have them as a base and reference and go from there to something new within what does not exist?" and "what is the good or bad way of designing, if that's even a question?".
