First seen on MyFonts: December 3rd, 2007 Notre DameDesigned in 1992 by Karlgeorg Hoefer, Notre Dame is part of the Linotype Type Before Gutenberg series. Notre Dame is a textura blackletter, a common bookhand style from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Textura is identifiable by lower case letters made with straight-strokes, diamond-shaped feet, and equal proportions of black to white space. Notre Dame capitals have beak and claw ornamentation on the main strokes. This design should be set with tight letterspacing and word spacing to maintain the equal ratio between black and white. Use Notre Dame in display work that lends itself to blackletter types such as diplomas, initial letters, book titles, and short display copy. Not quite what you’re looking for?
