First seen on MyFonts: December 3rd, 2007 Simoncini GaramondSome of the most popular typefaces in history are those based on the types of the sixteenth-century printer, publisher, and type designer Claude Garamond, whose sixteenth-century types were modeled on those of Venetian printers from the end of the previous century. Later typefaces by Jean Jannon in the early 1600s were long wrongly attributed to Garamond. Between 1958 and 1961, the Italian foundry Simoncini issued its version of Garamond (actually based on Jannons typefaces), designed by Francesco Simoncini and W. Bilz. More delicate in line and lighter in color than other Garamond/Jannon inspired typefaces, Simoncini Garamond is very versatile in display as well as text situations.
