Shàngó™A font family tree displays different foundries’ versions, or a foundry’s different cuts, of basically the same typeface design.
ShàngóSome words from CastleType: The logotype of Harper’s magazine has always caught my eye, and when I discovered it as Schneidler Initials, I decided to digitize it for my own use. Schneidler Initials, originally designed by Professor F.H. Ernst Schneidler, is a very elegant design that looks best when used at large sizes, which is exactly what it was designed for. Shàngó, the CastleType interpretation of this classic face, includes a beautiful alternate ‘Q’ with extra long tail, as well as alternate numerals. Available in Regular, Medium and Bold weights. Everywhere I look, I see Schneidler Initials used on book jackets, and although many of those are probably using Shàngó Regular (considered by some designers as the best digital interpretation of Schneidler Initials available), I thought it might look better in some instances a bit heavier. Therefore, I created Medium and Bold versions of this classic face, renamed Shàngó. Shàngó is the Yorùbá god of thunder, drums, and dance, and is the most popular deity in most of the African-based religions that were brought to the New World by the Yorùbá people. |
