Some words from CastleType:
CastleType was commissioned by San Francisco Focus magazine to digitize three weights of Standard in 1991. My first thought was, “Oh no, not another sans serif gothic!” And yet, when I compared it side by side with the version of Helvetica (its cousin) that most resembled it, I could easily see that Standard has a great deal more warmth, and realized that the art director knew exactly what he wanted. Currently, Standard is available in three weights: Condensed, Medium Condensed, and Extra Bold Extended.
