PoppiA font family tree displays different foundries’ versions, or a foundry’s different cuts, of basically the same typeface design.
PoppiSome words from Emigre: This collection of pictograms was designed by Martin Friedl as an extension of his final year project at the Stuttgart Academy of Arts, which included a signage project for a community center. He was inspired to expand on this project after a visit to Egypt, where he experienced ancient hieroglyphic ideograms in their original setting. This trip also made him aware of difficulties in trying to communicate with locals without a common alphabet. He got the idea to develop a comprehensive image-based language encompassing all areas of everyday life, allowing for communication beyond linguistic barriers. Poppi is his first step towards that goal. |
