Punctual was designed by creating a gid of dots and then connecting them.
The name, Punctual, is derived from the German word for “point”, which is punkt. The lines that connect the dots are the same thickness as the points. The font is geometrically spaced; that is, the width of each character is determined by its geometry; nearly all the characters are the same width. The “Universal” versions have no descenders-characters that would ordinarily have them are redesigned. In addition, lower case characters without ascenders are designed to reach the cap height.
