First seen on MyFonts: January 1st, 2000 SpiraCalligraphers of the Italian Renaissance adapted ancient models to create “italic” and “roman”, a consciously dramatic departure from standard Church Gothic. Punchcutters followed calligraphy until the French court adopted the formality of Aldus & Griffo’s Aldine Bembo model.
