Ondine

The powerful original script designed by Adrian Frutiger for Haas in 1954.

Although having nothing to do with the subcontinent (the capitals are based on informal Roman inscriptions, the lowercase Frutiger’s own calligraphy), the design has enjoyed wide use up and down the UK in Indian restaurant signage and menus.

The name means ‘wavy’ deriving from the French word for wave, ‘onde’.
