SofachromeA font family tree displays different foundries’ versions, or a foundry’s different cuts, of basically the same typeface design.
SofachromeSome words from Larabie: Sofachrome was created in 1999. Inspired by Pontiac car emblems, it quickly became one of the most popular fonts for performance automotive products. Mazda and Toyota adapted it for their own use. There’s even a rock band called Sofachrome who ended up using Sofachrome for their logo. Despite its popularity, Sofachrome was lacking in overall quality and the character set was woefully incomplete. The 2009 version of Sofachrome, features several new styles, more punctuation, more symbols, fractions, ordinals, class-based kerning and more language support. The basic alphabet design remains mostly the same as the original. The most noticeable improvement is the B which no longer looks top-heavy. The regular and italic styles of Sofachrome are still free for personal or commercial use. |
