Comedy

Some words from Letraset:

The second of the two typefaces designed by Dave Farey and Richard Dawson that is based on a particular lettering style by British lettering artist, Cecil Wade.

Like Collins, Comedy is a name taken from a famous British playhouse in London’s West End. Both titles were chosen by the designers because much of Cecil Wade’s most influential work, especially poster design, was undertaken for London’s theatreland. Not surprising perhaps, since his Fleet Street studio was located just a stone’s throw from the West End of London where most of the major theatres are sited.

Comedy is a very bold display sans serif which has angled uprights that put the bulk of the weight firmly at the top of each character. It has a suggestion of Art Deco influence but the bold, aggressive appearance of Comedy will make it an ideal choice for anything that needs hard-hitting, attention grabbing type. Obviously a display font but surprisingly readable in short tracts of text down as small as 14 point.
