Gia is based on forms from the retired NASA “worm” logo, the recently re-issued Atari logo, and elements from crude typefaces of the early eighties which appeared in upright video games.

The family is named after a supermodel of the period named Gia Carangi, one of the first celebrities to die of AIDS and as shrieked about in the HBO biopic starring Angelina Jolie.
