Memphisâ„¢A font family tree displays different foundries’ versions, or a foundry’s different cuts, of basically the same typeface design.
MemphisEmil Rudolf Weiss was the first to add slabserifs to the sanserif forms pioneered by Erbar and Renner. He designed Memphis for Stempel in 1929, following Futura; details show the influence of the American typeface Litho Antique from 1910. Ludlow Karnak can be seen as a version of the same design. MemphisSome words from Linotype: Because of the geometric basis of its forms, Memphis is often thought of as a font for technical fields, making a rational, purposeful impression. This emphasis on objectivity is well-suited to technical texts, but Memphis is appropriate for any text which should exhibit a clear, neutral character. |
