Let’s say a San Francisco punk group used letters from a theatre marquee to create a flyer in 1979 for one of their shows.
Then the flyer showed up in the background of a newspaper photograph, and the photo, twenty-five years later, was enlarged and the lettering on the flyer was turned into a font.
Santa Mensch has arrived.
