Manifesto
Hi. This is a policy statement of sorts. We’re calling it a manifesto just so you won’t confuse us with someone being totally unpretentious.
We believe you can find inspiration anywhere. In nature, in mis-communication, in meeting other people or in studying old type specimens. Examining your roots every now and then is good. Whose shoulders are we standing on anyway? In doing so it’s just as important not to get too entangled, reviving without reflecting. Our responsibility towards tradition is to create something new. By producing contemporary typefaces that corresponds to the technical and estethic expectations of today. Our tools are many, Wacom or crayon, but in the end, the eye is the judge.
Letters aren’t restricted by national boundaries. They help us communicate over borders, imagined or real. But we happen to live in Sweden. This is where we grew up, and this is where we do our work. These Letters come from Sweden, but they are for all of us. We hope you will find inspiration in our efforts.
Kind regards,
Letters from Sweden.
Letters from Sweden is a Swedish Type foundry started in 2011 by Göran Söderström and Fredrik Andersson.
Göran was previously representing Autodidakt on MyFonts but has now moved his typefaces Exemplar and Shabash to Letters from Sweden.
