MyFonts’ review: MADType is the one-man type foundry of Matt Desmond, a type designer equally at ease whether he is creating geometric sans fonts, casual handwriting scripts, olde-worlde blackletters, or doing grunge. Variable is a full-featured sans-serif family with several novel character shapes – 5 weights with italics. Stomper is a popular grunge sans. Brauhaus is his blackletter, ideal for beer labels. Curbdog successfully extracts funkiness from the geometric sans genre. Amber is super for high-tech company logos. Dunelm is Matt’s take on deteriorated old-style printing. And Rubba is “a Frankenstein of a font” according to Matt.
