MyFonts’ review: ShinnType is the typefoundry of Nick Shinn, the Toronto art director and type designer. Careful detailing and wide weight range make the text faces Walburn and Worldwide fine choices for newspapers, while sharp-seriffed Beaufort is ideal for magazine work. Preface, with numerous weights, novel features and exquisite stroke modulation is a daring alternative to Helvetica. Of his less formal work, stand-outs are the casual script Handsome, the improbable-sounding Bodoni Egyptian, and Eunoia – art deco themes combined with multiple character alternates.
