SparkyType
 of Wellington, New Zealand

<< >>  ^

MyFonts’ review: New Zealander David “Sparky” Buck, a former member of the Chank Army, started SparkyType in 1997 as the vehicle for his type designs. Thri is a stripy geometric font. We’ve seen striped fonts before, but this one immediately seems perfect for a logo system: three weights are unusually well thought out for working together. Billy is an appealing My First Typeface parody, perhaps what a schoolteacher makes out of paper when she presents the kids’ work. Likewise, Munter makes us grin at an apparent naivety but shows mature decisions in stroke weights – these are far more than novelty faces. Technically highly impressive is Rubic, cube-shaped lettering with colorable layers.
