Barcode UPC E font set, with Encoding Utility, Microsoft Office Add-ins a DLL , Crystal Reports Support and Encoding Information
The Universal Product Code (UPC) has been successfully employed in the retail industry in the United States and Canada since 1973. UPC is a coding system as well as a barcode; it is designed to uniquely identify a product and its manufacturer. The UPC Version E code is a 6 digit code, the first 6 digits represent the manufacturer of the labeled item, the 7th digit is a check character, based on the previous 6 digits of data. This is suited to identifying small packages. UPC Version E is also known as “zero suppression version”, it allows manufacturers to encode a limited number of unique twelve digit product codes in digits. EAN is very similar in structure and algorithm to its American counterpart UPC, some readers and scanners effectively treat them as being the same. |
