Biography
Font Aid III is a project launched by a diverse collection of type designers and font foundries, who all wish to help victims of the South Asian Tsunami. SOTA, a US-based non-profit, is acting as a non-partisan organizing body to help coordinate the effort and ensure all funds are distributed appropriately. There are two ways you can join in with Font Aid: - Buy top-selling fonts marked “Font Aid” from participating foundries at MyFonts. For a month, ending February 14, many of our foundries are selling best-selling fonts in special “Font Aid III” packages. For all Font Aid III sales, MyFonts guarantees to give 100% of your payments to a leading charity (see below) helping Tsunami victims. About the fonts:
- These fonts are great sellers!
- They are full versions
- They can be used for real work, and come with just the same End User License Agreements as the regular versions
How to buy:- Browse the Font Aid fonts listed above
- Alternatively, look out for “Buy via Font Aid” icons when browsing the regular font pages
- Add the fonts to the Shopping Cart in the normal way
- Use the checkout as normal way, paying by credit card, PayPal or company account
- Buy the Font Aid III font. Available late January 2005, this is a unique typeface created exclusively for the Font Aid III effort. Dutch designer Max Kisman developed the font’s concept: a collection of fleurons (also known as flowers or printers’ flowers) by designers from around the world. Much like the poppy, which has become a symbol for honoring the dead and assisting the living victims of war, Font Aid’s typographic flowers will serve as a symbol of remembrance and hope; a respectful tribute to those who have lost their lives; a helping hand extended to the survivors; and a reminder of the awesome power of nature.
We encourage all our customers — past, present and future — to buy generously during this period. Bring forward your purchases of fonts you’ve been considering! We thank you for your support. Direct Relief InternationalAll proceeds from the sale of these packages will be sent to Direct Relief International, a leading charity that guarantees to target these donations to victims of the Tsunami disaster. For further information, please visit their web sites: Font Aid HistoryThe two previous Font Aid projects have raised thousands of dollars for the Red Cross (in the wake of September 11) and for UNICEF to help war and disaster refugees.
