Three Rising Stars
Every month we add new, innovative fonts and sign up new foundries. In this 26th issue of Rising Stars, we want to show you three of our top-selling new fonts.

Mayfair is a formal script based on traditional italic forms with swash uppercase. The OpenType version is a single font containing all the extra characters, which you can access with OpenType-supported applications such as Adobe InDesign. This new release is a revival of Mayfair Cursive, giving you access to the face that all but defined menus, romance covers, wine and liquor labels and chocolate boxes for almost two 20th-century generations.

Fleurons Two are new embellishments from Wiescher Design, a follow-up to the very popular Fleurons One.

Fleurons Two

Fonce Sans Pro strikes you as having a normal and legible appearance at first glance, but a second look tells you a lot more. It has a large x-height, ensuring legibility. The letters are slightly condensed, adding a bit of sophistication. And trademark letters like G, a, b, d, g, q, and p set the design apart from other sans serif. It makes you look Dutch, but without the costly plane ticket!

Did You Know?
Many of our font foundries and designers include images and PDFs of their fonts, so that you can get a better idea of their designs in use. You can find all of these samples in our Font Gallery. If designers have included images or PDFs, you can also find them on their Font Family pages.

For example, two of this month’s Rising Stars include images:

Fleurons Two

Another of our fonts featured in this month’s Rising Stars also includes a nice sample that shows off the typeface:

Batoswash

We encourage you to explore these Font Gallery images that our designers have created. It’s a great way to see the font designs up close and personal!

Focus on Design Trends: Swash Fonts

Swash fonts provide a fancy way to add flair to your projects. From the avant garde style of Batoswash to the more classic look of Diana, these swash fonts have loads of personality. They work great for large or decorated caps, too!

Avant Garde Swash
Batoswash

The avant garde Batoswash is a monoline sans serif design. It comes in three versions: Narrow, Middle and Wide. The typographer has been designing fonts for over 56 years, and created this futuristic swash font “as a monoline reaction to my many calligraphic fonts.” Batoswash works well in posters and headlines.

Retro Swash
Chippewa Falls

Greetings from Chippewa Falls, home of Wisconsin’s finest natural spring water. In the spirit of the old days, before water sparkled and before typefaces were known as fonts, Chank is proud to introduce Chippewa Falls. This font comes with fancy swirly uppercase letters and stout small caps for lowercase. This retro typeface has lettering worthy of good old-fashioned sleigh rides.

Art Deco Swash
Ransom Clearcut

Ransom Clearcut is an elegant headline face, best used sparingly. The font includes decorative flourishes in the brace, bracket and en dash positions.

Elegant Swash
Diana

Diana is an elegant calligraphic swash with decorative flourishes. It works well in advertising and display typography.

MyFonts has a nice variety of swash fonts, including the avant garde Batoswash, retro Chippewa Falls, art deco Ransom Clearcut, and elegant Diana.

Have Your Say
You can have your say at MyFonts. Submit your comments. We’re always interested in your opinion.

“You have a huge selection, everything is clearly organized and easy to use, purchasing is a snap, and I love that fonts I’ve purchased sit in my own little corner where they can be downloaded again, if necessary. And did I mention customer service? You folks are awesome! Both times I have needed customer support the experience has been noteworthy, in the most positive sense.”
