Alexander Wilson of United KingdomBorn: 1714 Eighteenth century Scottish typefounder. After an education in London he started the Wilson Foundry in 1742, moving the business to Glasgow in 1744. Richard Austin, Johann Christian Bauer, and William Miller all worked for Wilson. The business passed to his son Andrew and grandson Alexander, under whose leadership it went bankrupt in 1845.
