Artem Gerasimov of Russia
Born: Arkhangelsk, 1977
I was born in 1977 in city of Arkhangelsk in the north of Russia. Now I live in the city of Cheboksary.
My fonts hobby began at school. Then I had no concept either about TrueType or about Type 1 or even what represents a font. When I saw a font, I tried to reproduce it on paper. The last pages of my school writing books were ornamented by letters. Though I had no concept about pixels, my letters were drawn as daggers and were effectively raster fonts. After some years I saw computer fonts. After some years, I began to develop some actual fonts for myself. They were Cyrillic versions of freely distributed fonts.
Since 2003 I began to make real fonts. I’m now a designer. My fonts are published under the name of the AType font foundry.
