Emery Walker of United KingdomBorn: London, 1851 Fine printer who worked with William Morris at the Kelmscott Press, then in 1900 co-founded the Doves Press with T.J. Cobden-Sanderson. Walker drew the revival of Jenson’s types, which were then cut by Edward Prince. He left the Doves Press in 1909. He was engaged by Harry Kessler to produce type for the Cranach Presse in Weimar. Walker commissioned Percy Tiffin and (again) the highly-regarded Prince. With the accompanying Tagliente-based italic, the project ran into serious difficulties and the mediocre design remained unfinished until after Prince’s death. Activities Related Links
