Paul Koch

Son of the prolific type designer Rudolf Koch, Paul was a skilled punchcutter who cut type designed by his father, and by others including Victor Hammer, for whom he worked in Florence, and Berthold Wolpe. On his father’s death in 1934 he took over the Frankfurt workshop. Hermann Zapf spent some time at Koch’s workshop in 1938, learning punchcutting and fine printing.

Paul Koch fell on the Russian front in 1943.
