Peter Behrens of Germany

Born: Hamburg, 1868
Died: Berlin, 1940

German architect and designer, working mainly for AEG in Berlin. From 1903 to 1914 (from 1907 as their architect and artistic director) he designed for AEG a factory, designed domestic electrical equipment (including kettles and fans), and created what would now be called a corporate identity. In later life he held a number of senior academic posts.
