Thomas James Cobden-Sanderson of United Kingdom

Born: Alnwick, Northumberland, 1840
Died: London, 1922

English fine printer, co-founder of the Doves Press with Emery Walker in 1900. Edward Prince cut their type, following Walker’s interpretations of Jenson’s designs. Walker left in 1909; the excellent type was used for several more years, until Cobden-Sanderson threw it off Hammersmith Bridge into the River Thames.
