Died: Two Rivers, Wisconsin, 1940

Also known as Edward James Hamilton. Midwestern American wood type designer and producer active in the latter part of the 19th century with the Hamilton Manufacturing Co. His innovations led to the production of high quality wood type (used for large display typefaces at that time) at half its previous price, and the dominance of the wood type industry by the Hamilton Manufacturing Co.
