In 1907, Christian Heinrich Kleukens and his brother Friedrich Wilhelm Kleukens founded the Ernst-Ludwig Press in Darmstadt. In 1919, he created the Kleukenspresse with Rudolf G. Binding and, in 1927, became director of the newly reorganized Mainzer press.
