Erhard Ratdolt of Germany

Born: Augsburg, 1447
Died: Augsburg, 1527

Ratdolt printed in Venice between 1476 and 1486, producing some of that city’s very finest books, then returned to Augsburg, printing until 1522. He was the first printer to use decorative title pages; the decorative quality of his books was to influence William Morris.
