Windows Classic Mac     Adobe Type Manager Light is all you need to use Type 1 fonts on Mac and Windows; it’s a free download! (free)
Windows Classic Mac Mac OS X   Azalea UPCTools by Azalea Software lets you print UPC, EAN, JAN, Bookland (ISBN), and ISSN bar codes from within any Windows or Mac application. ($199).
Windows       FastFontSet is a program that allows you to create a selection of fonts for your needs. Now it is easy to choose the font that fit your needs from all fonts installed on your computer. You can create, store and use 'sets' of fonts (for example, 'poster', 'hand-written' etc.), that each time to not eliminate obviously improper. (free)

  Classic Mac     Font Buddy from VoJou Software is a program to view and print character sets for any font. It also provides keystrokes to access special characters and useful information about the font. ($20 shareware)
Windows       Font Creator from High-Logic is the most popular shareware font editor for Windows. With this award winning software, you can create and edit TrueType fonts. Use Font Creator's advanced import feature to make your own handwriting font or add signatures, logos or any other symbol to an existing font. (free to try, $65 to buy Home Edition)
    Mac OS X   FontExampler by Pixits will take text of your choice and show that text in every font on your system. One of the first native OS X font utilities. (free)
Windows       FontExpert 2004 by Proxima Software. enables you to preview and manage both installed and uninstalled typefaces, plus examine your system for font errors. You can display the list of installed font faces, customizable font samples and advanced font properties. The program allows you to print different types of reports, and offers many printing options. (free to try, $35 to buy)
    Mac OS X   FontExplorer™ X is an excellent new font manager from Linotype. (free)
    Mac OS X Linux/Unix FontForge An outline font editor that lets you create your own postscript, truetype, opentype, cid-keyed, multi-master, cff, svg and bitmap (bdf) fonts, or edit existing ones. Also lets you convert one format to another. FontForge has support for many macintosh font formats. (free)
Windows Classic Mac Mac OS X   FontLab Studio, the most powerful widely-available font editor, allows you to design your own fonts or change the properties of existing ones. ($649)
Windows       FontList from Edwin Martin; With FontList, you can create a HTML file that will show all the fonts installed on your computer. With your browser, you can pick the right font in no time. (free)
Windows       FontLister from Peter Theill; a fast and easy-to-use font manager for installing, uninstalling, copying, printing and browsing your TrueType fonts (Shareware $5)

Windows       Fontonizer is an easy-to-use Font Organizer that helps you keep track of all your fonts. It identifies and loads all of the fonts installed in the system and shows exactly what each font looks like. It also prints out great font sample lists. The program stores a low resolution (screen) image of all your fonts so you can preview them even when they are not loaded. ( $29)
Windows       Font Xplorer by Moon Software is a full-featured Windows font management program which can view, repair, print, organize, activate, and find duplicate fonts. Also allows you to save bitmap images, rename font files, view metrics, and customize the program extensively. ($19.95)
  Classic Mac Mac OS X   LemkeFontBook by Lemke Software. The ultimate font utility for every Mac OS user who wants a complete overview about all fonts. Not related to Apple’s Font Book in Panther. ($10 shareware)
Windows       MainType from High-Logic is the most advanced font manager for Windows. It offers a straightforward and easy-to-use interface to help you maintain your fonts. MainType includes features for novice users who just want to view and install fonts as well as advanced features for graphic designers and typographers. (free to try, $40 to buy)
    Mac OS X   MasterJuggler by Alsoft is a font management program which allows you to store your fonts anywhere and activate/deactivate them as you like.
Windows       MyFonts Font Manager by UniTech / MyTools.com (no relation to MyFonts!) is a popular font manager for Windows, allowing you to view, print, find, install, uninstall, and remove duplicate fonts. ($35)
    Mac OS X   PickChar by Shawnware, similar to PopChar (below) but native to Mac OS X. (free)
    Mac OS X   PopChar X is the successor of the famous PopChar Pro utility. It is not just a new version that was ported to Mac OS X; PopChar X was developed anew from ground up to take advantage of various features of Mac OS X. In contrast to its predecessor, PopChar X is now a “faceless” application. This means that it does not appear in the Dock. There is only a small box labeled with “P” in the top left corner of the screen — simple, unobtrusive, and easy to access. ($29)

Windows       TrueType Font Namer allows you to change the name of a TrueType font. ($20)
Windows Classic Mac Mac OS X   TypeTool: Fontlab’s light font editor. All the basics plus extensive glyph drawing tools. Great for students, hobbyists, etc. ($99)
Windows       Typograf is a font manager for TrueType, PostScript Type 1 and printer fonts. ZDNet rating: 5 stars.
Windows       WGL Assistant, written by Radoslaw Przybyl, assisted by Adam Twardoch, is a multilingual font manager for Windows.
Windows       X-Fonter, a font viewer, font manager and 3D graphic program for Windows. ($25)
