Homelessfonts is an initiative by the Arrels foundation to support, raise awareness and bring some dignity to the life of homeless people in Barcelona Spain. Each of the fonts was carefully digitized from the handwriting of different homeless people who agreed to participate in this initiative. A biography/story of each homeless person captures their story, to help raise awareness and bring some dignity to the life of homeless people.
Cavita typeface is a mix between both grotesque and calligraphic models: regulars have a rough grotesque spirit; while the italics where inspired in calligraphic gestures. All of these details are reinforced with an inverted modulation (horizontals strokes are thicker than usual). The italics seem to move away from the traditional concept of type system, but work very well along side. This typeface has very particular shapes and rhythm, it’s different and identifiable from the rest, making it a very good option to use on every piece of design.
The 1938 movie musical “Carefree” starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers featured the song “Change Partners” by Irving Berlin.
A copy of the sheet music for this song had the title hand lettered in a wonderful tri-line design that has been recreated in the digital typeface Fancy Dancing JNL.
Stencil-Gothic — designed in 1885 by John West of Brooklyn, New York — is the first known typeface that incorporates interrupted strokes in order to evoke the impression of stencil lettering.
Scribbler, like Double Quick (another one of my fonts), is a handwritten typeface, designed to look like a quick grocery list, a hasty ‘I Love You’ note penned down on a Post-it or a home improvement to-do list. Scribbler is a little messier than Double Quick, but this may be just your style!
Lichtspielhaus Slab is an ultra condensed handwritten typeface based on Lichtspielhaus. It still transports you back to a time where neon lights and marquee letters decorated cinema facades. This time with Slab.

A 1940s Australian song folio featuring tunes performed by singer-actress Deanna Durbin had her name hand lettered in an interesting Art Deco style sans.
This became the basis for Song Folio JNL, capturing all the nuances of the original in digital form.
Like a muscle car from decades ago, Colt aims to balance unbridled power and finesse. The wide letterforms arose out of a love for type found on motor vehicles made in the sixties. As the typeface took shape, the characters utilized the Clarendon style with attention to its ball terminals to anchor the design. The result yields a new take on the extended slab-serif genre in a wide array of weights.
Reload Alt is a rounded industrial geometric display typeface available in four flexible and distinct weights.

One of the classic display types of the 19th century, an Egyptian with bracketed serifs. Quite bold.

Aelita is a low contrast serif typeface in 6 styles. It’s distinguished by lowercase character alternates that noticeably change the text pattern. The main character set is quite strict and is characterized by sharp and clear terminals and stiff junctions between stems and bowls. Alternates are more facile and calligraphic. Neutral design of the main character set makes the typeface suitable for scientific and literary texts. Alternates are ideally suited for science fiction, fantasy and art books. The typeface was designed by Natalia Vasilyeva and released by ParaType in 2014.
By twisting and weaving separate strands of rope together, a stronger TWINE is created. The distinctive “valleys” that give the twine its twisted and wavy appearance is the result of the twining process.
