Denise Koehler
Co-founder of Deniart Systems, Denise Koehler was inspired in 1993 by her love of hieroglyphics and the desire to be able to write like the ancient pharaohs in the modern age. This somehow led to a research project that resulted in historically accurate and esthetically inspired Egyptian hieroglyphics fonts. Following the release of their first typeface, she and partner Jan Kohler embarked on a research project that spanned a decade and resulted in a library of eclectic typefaces based on a number of ancient writing systems like those of the ancient Egyptians, Aztecs, Mayans, as well as symbols and glyphs used in medieval sciences like alchemy and magic. The foundry, which held it's roots in Canada now has its operations in Czech Republic where the founders now reside.
