TT Firs Neue is a well-balanced Scandinavian sans serif with a distinctively robust Nordic character. It's a recognizable and appealing font that blends expressive graphic elements with versatile application. Since its release, the typeface has gained immense popularity among designers, leading us to reissue it twice in our pursuit of perfection. We shared the detailed story of TT Firs Neue's creation and evolution in our article.
Before working on this update, we conducted extensive visual research to enhance the appeal of its distinctive details and to make the font’s character even more harmonious. As a result, the ink traps in the font follow a consistent logic, and the shapes of rounded letterforms and glyphs with bowls are uniform across all styles. Characters with diagonals, triangular glyphs, and terminals also adhere to this unified design logic. The font looks consistent and stylistically refined.
We also conducted research into Scandinavian languages, which helped us create authentic ligatures and diacritical sets that will be genuinely useful for designers. Diacritics, numerals, and punctuation marks follow a consistent design logic, contributing to the font's harmonious visual perception.
TT Firs Neue supports a large number of useful OpenType features, including alternate glyph shapes. The typeface also includes a variable font, which varies along two axes: weight and slant. All this allows designers to tailor the font to their specific needs, revealing new facets of its versatility.
