Incipit

Incipit was a design firm built upon letters. Incipit's work encompassed typeface design, logotypes, custom lettering and typographic design. Clients ranged among publishers, brand and identity consultants, advertising agencies, cultural organizations, marketers and others. Studio projects have been recognized in Letter Arts Review; AIGA's 50 Books; the Type Directors Club competition; and Communication Arts' Design Annual. Principal Peter Bain has written on various aspects of typography, lectured both in the U.S. and abroad, and co-curated the exhibition "Blackletter: Type and National Identity" with Paul Shaw. In 2011, Incipit closed and has been replaced by Peter Bain Design.
