Mike Beens

Mike Beens is a graphic designer specializing in hand lettering and identity design. His first recognition of a love for letters came in 4th grade, “unselfconsciously copying out blackletter capitals with a ballpoint pen.” As a college sophomore, it was pointed out that he could make a living arranging type, color, & photos on a page and “that was it.”

He credits his successful enjoyment of work to the masterful mentoring of Lothar Hoffman, Jerry Campbell and Dick Isbell. Mike has worked in southeast Michigan for 25 years under the name Case Studio, Inc., and taught lettering and typography for fourteen years.
