BiographyEstablished by William Miller in Edinburgh in 1809, became Miller & Richard in 1838. Closed in 1952, when the designs passed to Stephenson Blake. Miller & Richard built a strong tradition of typographic innovation; their biggest successes were: the Miller & Richard Oldstyle and its boldface, which we know as Old Style or Century Oldstyle; and Antique Old Style, or Bookman.
