Emmanuel Ludovice

I'm Emmanuel Ludovice, a licensed electrical engineer turned self-taught graphic and type designer. My journey into the world of type design began with a simple frustration: sometimes it’s hard to find a typeface with the exact look and feel you need. And as they say, if you can’t find one, create one. My shift from amperes to pixels stems from a lifelong fascination with art and visual communication, tracing back to my childhood days of experimenting with MS Paint and the fonts of good old Windows 98. My debut release, Pochi, is the product of learning by doing, born out of my exploration into type design and crafting custom letterforms. This process reinforced a guiding principle: every typeface should serve a visual or emotional purpose, not exist merely for aesthetics. With a handful of works-in-progress (and a fair share of unfinished experiments) simmering, my focus as an independent type designer lies in creating distinctive display typefaces—experimental yet functional, and unapologetically unique. Outside of design, I’m usually buried in a book or exploring new creative pursuits such as illustration, photography, and creative writing.
