Heisei Mincho is a mincho typeface for body text, produced under the direction of the Character Font Development and Promotion Center, because the supply had lagged behind the growing demand for fonts associated with the spread of word processing and DTP. Ryobi Imagics was in charge of the design. The visual center of gravity is lowered in consideration of the suitability for horizontal formatting. The font has a wide margin for readability, and a simple design with many straight lines for use on low-resolution output devices.
