Über die Familie

Kitsune, in Japanese, means fox. The word is also used for mythological foxes that possess paranormal abilities, which increase as they grow older. Fox spirits can bewitch people and they can shapeshift into human form to fool human beings.

I was reading a book by Yangshe Choo, called The Fox Wife, which I really enjoyed. It deals with a ‘Huli Jing’ - the Chinese version of a Kitsune - so when I finished this particular font, I named it Kitsune Spirit in honour of the book I really enjoyed, and Japan - the country I really like and which I find myself in as I write this!

Kitsune Spirit is a font I made with a pen, by hand. I draws on my earliest work, when I didn’t know a thing about making fonts, but I quite enjoyed creating them! So, you may say that this font is rather rough, a little childish and a little wobbly, but since I had such a great time making it, imagine the delight it will give you when you use it for a project!

Kitsune Spirit

Über Hanoded

Hanoded is run by Dutchman David Kerkhoff. His fonts are a mishmash of styles, as he just creates whatever pops into his head. You will find a lot of brush fonts in his collection, as his favourite tools are brushes and Chinese ink, with cartoon style fonts and script fonts complementing his repertoire. Aside from making fonts, David occasionally guides tours in far-flung places, renovates his '30's house and tries reasoning with his wife and (teenage) kids. Not an easy task!
