Über die Familie

Valmiki Devanagari is a monolinear handwriting typeface designed exclusively for the Devanagari script. Its letterforms are set at a slight angle, aiding its ability to mimic the quickly-written appearance everyday handwriting usually takes. Valmiki Devanagari ships in two different formats: users can install a single Variable Font or use the five static Lekhak Devanagari OpenType font files. The static fonts’ stroke weights range from Light through Bold, while the Variable Font permits even more differentiation in thickness. Valmiki Devanagari’s casual nature is visible throughout the character set’s design. Plenty of space is given to the typeface’s vowel marks, allowing them to be prominent in text. Loops and knots all have visible counters inside them. Several characters’ counters are indeed quite open. Valmiki Devanagari was designed in-house at ITF by Gunjan Panchal.
