VICIDo is a type foundry with a clear educational focus. We design typefaces that support children in learning letters, forms, and writing movements in the best possible way. At the core of our work is the belief that typography plays a crucial role in literacy development, and that well-designed letterforms can make learning easier, build confidence, and foster a lasting joy of writing. Our roots lie firmly in the educational sector. The development of VICIDo typefaces consistently follows the didactic requirements of classroom use as well as official educational standards. The design is strongly informed by the differing school handwriting guidelines of Austria and Germany. These country-specific letterforms can be precisely controlled through stylistic alternates and glyph selection, allowing educators and publishers to adapt the typefaces to curricula, line systems, and teaching methods.
