À propos de la famille

When designing Berthold Baskerville Book, Günter Gerhard Lange analyzed and compared John Baskerville’s original type (1752–1757) and countless cuts based on the original design. Lange’s interpretation also took into account today’s printing and composing technology.Compared to Berthold Baskerville, it is slightly lighter in weight and has more contrast in the strokes. The result is that Lange’s Baskerville is balanced yet maintains the beauty of the original design. Lange also acknowledged Baskerville’s background as a handwriting teacher with the graceful cursive capitals, particularly J, K, N, T, Y and Z. À propos Berthold

The H. Berthold typefoundry, renowned for crafting high-quality typefaces, was founded in 1858 by Hermann Berthold in Berlin. By 1918 the foundry had become the largest in the world, with offices in Stuttgart, St. Petersburg, Leipzig, Riga, Budapest and Vienna. To complement its proprietary typesetting equipment business activities, Berthold developed high quality typefaces. The H. Berthold foundry’s most celebrated family of typefaces is arguably Akzidenz-Grotesk (released 1896), known as the mother of all sans serifs. The Premium foundry page can be viewed Here.
