À propos de la famille

Cluster Edge is an industrial geometric sans shaped at the intersection of utilitarian sans-serifs from the late 19th century and the systematic approach of mid-20th-century European modernist typography. It expands the ideas introduced in more neutral and versatile Cluster, pushing the design toward a sharper and more expressive direction. Cluster Edge is built around a sense of technical functionality. A relatively wide default spacing creates a distinctive effect — the text resembles the lettering found in engineering drawings, technical diagrams, or early prototypes. This openness reinforces a feeling of clarity, precision, and rational structure. While the base version treats certain historical details as subtle accents, Cluster Edge brings them to the forefront. The characteristic hooks derived from 19th-century grotesques become a defining structural feature of the design. Appearing across a wider range of characters, they introduce a stronger visual rhythm and a more pronounced Bauhaus-like plasticity. At the same time, their number and shape are carefully balanced to keep the typeface expressive without becoming overly decorative. Another distinctive feature is the treatment of capitals. Compared to the lowercase, the uppercase letters are slightly condensed, creating a more compact rhythm in all-caps settings. Their proportions are loosely inspired by the lettering found on license plates and road signage, reinforcing the utilitarian tone of the design. The family consists of 36 styles and is divided into two versions: Cluster Edge and Cluster Edge Tight, each with 9 weights and matching italics. Edge maintains a more open spacing that emphasizes the structural clarity of the text. Tight features carefully reworked compact spacing designed for large sizes — helping to avoid the optical defects that often appear when tracking is simply reduced in design software.

À propos Kobuzan

Greetings from Kyiv, Ukraine! I'm Maksym Kobuzan, a passionate graphic and type designer with an unwavering love for all things typography. In 2020, I embarked on a creative journey by founding my own independent type foundry, and ever since, I've been dedicated to bringing unique and high-quality typefaces to life, catering to both Cyrillic and Latin script enthusiasts. My specialty is creating versatile fonts that excel in both aesthetics and functionality. In a testament to the dedication and commitment to my craft, I am thrilled to share that I was honored as the winner of the prestigious TDC69 award in 2023, a recognition that has further inspired me to continue pushing the boundaries of type design. Collaboration is at the heart of innovation, and I've had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed fellow type foundries such as PangramPangram, BlazeType, Velvetyne, Type01, and Tunera Type Foundry. These partnerships have allowed me to explore new horizons and continually refine my work, resulting in the creation of even more remarkable fonts. One of the aspects I'm particularly passionate about is the development of custom fonts. Whether it's for branding, editorial design, or any other creative project, I relish the challenge of crafting typefaces that are tailor-made to suit the unique needs and character of each project. I am a firm believer in the power of sharing knowledge, and I actively engage with the design community by regularly posting insights into my design process and offering free typefaces on my Instagram. This open and collaborative approach reflects my commitment to not only my craft but also the design community at large. Thank you for joining me on this typographic journey, and I look forward to continually expanding the boundaries of type design and crafting fonts that inspire and empower fellow designers across the globe.
