Ina Maria Nixdorf

I am Ina Maria Nixdorf, a type designer and UI/UX designer based in Berlin. My work in type design stems from over two decades of experience in creating digital interfaces, visual systems, and brand identities. I view typefaces not as isolated artifacts, but as functional, expressive systems that exist within both digital and cultural contexts. My primary focus is on display typefaces that possess a strong visual voice, influenced by psychedelia, perception, rhythm, and inner imagery, while being shaped by a profound understanding of usability, structure, and implementation. With a background in UX and design systems, I am particularly interested in how type behaves across various scales, media, and states — from posters and editorial layouts to responsive interfaces and time-based environments. This experience significantly informs my approach to spacing, rhythm, and legibility, even in highly expressive designs. My initial releases signify the start of an ongoing type practice grounded in experimentation, precision, and conceptual clarity. Each typeface is crafted with intention, technical care, and a clear vision of its intended use and application.
