À propos de la famille

A lot of contemporary technology has become typographically softer than the objects it lives on. Rounded sans-serifs may suit touch interfaces and friendly apps, but they can feel disconnected from appliances built from flat panels, hard corners, dark glass and sharply divided controls. Regra is typography for technology with corners.

Its wide, angular construction echoes the geometry of manufactured enclosures rather than trying to soften it. Straight runs, squared forms and abrupt changes of direction give Regra the same visual vocabulary as sheet metal, black-glass panels, vents, doors and control surfaces. Regular, Bold and Black weights with matching italics provide range for product-family names, model designations and campaign typography.

Microwave ovens, combination ovens, induction ranges, extractor hoods, refrigerators and built-in cooking systems are especially natural settings. These appliances often consist of large rectangles divided into smaller ones: doors, displays, handles and control zones. Regra can carry series names, launch headlines, retail displays and packaging in typography that feels designed alongside the appliance rather than added afterward.

Front-loading washers, dryers, dishwashers, dehumidifiers and air-treatment systems present the same physical language. Heat pumps, ventilation equipment, water heaters and home-energy controllers extend it into visible building systems where product-series names and showroom graphics benefit from a harder technical voice.

Professional and prosumer equipment such as rectilinear espresso machines, countertop ovens, commercial induction units and under-counter refrigeration can use Regra without drifting into heavy industrial typography. Desktop PC cases, NAS systems, UPS units, network appliances and external drive arrays offer the same opportunity in computing hardware, where bays, vents and rigid panels already establish the geometric environment.

The italics add movement when a campaign needs a faster layer, while the uprights maintain the connection to rigid enclosure geometry. Regra gives hard-edged products typography that speaks the same language as the object: flat planes, sharp divisions and technology with no reason to round off its corners.
